Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

K12Launch LLC ("K12Launch," "we," "us") operates k12launch.com and app.k12launch.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights — including specific rights for parents of children whose data is on the platform. It applies to all users: tutor subscribers, parents and guardians, and visitors.

By using the platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Contact for privacy matters: hello@k12launch.com

1. Information We Collect

From tutor subscribers: Name, business name, email, phone, credentials, certifications and training, geographic service area, modality preference, payment information (processed by Stripe — K12Launch does not store full card numbers), profile photo and biography, platform usage data, background check pass/fail status, and proof of insurance if requested.

From parents and guardians: Name, email, phone, referral source, child information (first name, grade level, reading challenges, learning goals, modality preference), and whether the family was introduced through K12Launch (referral classification).

From students (via tutor or parent entry): K12Launch does not collect information directly from students. All student data is entered by the tutor or parent on behalf of the student. This includes: first name, grade level, literacy assessment results (levels 1–4), session notes, and lesson history.

Automatically: Browser type, device, IP address, approximate location, pages visited, login timestamps, and session activity — collected via cookies and analytics tools.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information we collect to: operate the platform and its features; match parents to appropriate tutor subscribers; process tutor subscription billing; send platform notifications and session reminders; troubleshoot and improve the platform using aggregated, de-identified data; verify tutor credentials and background checks; and record referral classifications for administering non-solicitation terms in the Tutor Subscriber Agreement.

We do not sell personal information, use student data for advertising or profiling, or use student data for any purpose unrelated to that student's tutoring on the platform.

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

K12Launch manages educational records for children, including children under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

No direct collection from children. K12Launch does not collect personal information directly from children under 13. All student data is entered by a tutor subscriber or parent on behalf of the student. Children do not have their own K12Launch accounts.

Parental consent. By enrolling a child — whether directly or by authorizing a tutor to create a student record — parents provide consent for K12Launch to collect and use the information described in this policy for that child's educational record. Tutors are responsible for obtaining this consent before entering any student information.

No sale of student data. K12Launch does not sell, rent, or disclose student data for commercial purposes. Student data is never used for advertising.

Parents' rights. Parents may at any time request to review, correct, or delete all information K12Launch holds about their child. Email hello@k12launch.com with your child's name and the associated tutor's name. We will respond within 30 days.

4. Referral Classification

When a parent or student is introduced to a tutor through K12Launch — via the Tutor Directory, matching system, Katie Reel's platform presence, the Lowcountry Literacy Project intake process, or any direct K12Launch introduction — their profile is marked as a K12Launch-Originated Referral. This classification is used to administer non-solicitation terms in the Tutor Subscriber Agreement. It is not used for any other purpose and is not shared with third parties.

5. How We Share Information

With tutors: When a family is matched, we share relevant parent and student information with the assigned tutor. Tutors may only access data for students assigned to them.

With Stripe: For subscription billing and, where applicable, tutor-to-parent payment facilitation. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

With service providers: We use vendors for hosting, email delivery, and analytics — under data processing agreements that prohibit them from using your data for their own purposes.

With law enforcement: Only if required by law or valid legal process. We will notify affected users where permitted.

6. Data Retention

Tutor account data is retained for the duration of the subscription plus 30 days post-cancellation. Student and assessment data is retained while the tutor account is active, then for 30 days after account closure (to allow export). Payment records are retained for 7 years for tax compliance. Analytics data is retained on a 24-month rolling basis. All deleted data is permanently purged within 30 days of a deletion request.

Parents may request deletion of their child's data at any time — it will be removed within 30 days regardless of the tutor's account status.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure hashed credential storage, and role-based access controls (tutors cannot access other tutors' student data). In the event of a confirmed security breach affecting your personal data, K12Launch will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@k12launch.com.

8. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to understand how the platform is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking networks. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; some platform features may not function correctly if you do.

9. Your Rights

All users have the right to: access a copy of personal information K12Launch holds about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and associated data; and export your student records, assessment data, and lesson plans (tutor subscribers, within 30 days of account closure). To exercise any of these rights, email hello@k12launch.com. We will respond within 30 days and may require identity verification.

10. Updates and Contact

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Active subscribers will be notified by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
